Put the strawberries, water and maple syrup in a skillet with a lid and place it over medium heat. Cook, covered, until the berries are softened, about 3-4 minutes. Using a potato masher or fork, mash the strawberries until they're mostly crushed. Simmer the sauce until slightly thickened, about 1-2 minutes longer.
